interns Stories

Aditya Sinha

I started at VeK as an intern a little over two years ago, not entirely sure what to expect but eager to learn. From day one, I was given hands-on experience in public affairs and policy work—researching, analysing regulations, and understanding how advocacy plays out. It was a steep learning curve, but the exposure was invaluable.

Over time, I moved from just assisting on projects to taking the lead on some, whether it was shaping policy arguments, engaging with stakeholders, or working on sectoral research for advocacy. The transition from intern to employee felt natural because the work was always hands-on, and the team encouraged me to take ownership early on.

What’s kept me here is the kind of work we do—it’s challenging, meaningful, and always evolving. The team at VeK is sharp, driven, and collaborative, and I’ve learned just as much from discussions in the office as I have from formal research. Looking back, it’s been a fast-paced, intense, and rewarding journey, and I’m excited to see where it goes next.

Yashika Sachdeva

With a strong interest in research and policymaking, I interned at VeK, a research-driven policy advisory firm, where I gained valuable exposure to the policy formulation and analysis process. My work involved preparing policy notes on key sectors of the Indian economy—including logistics, AI, biofuels, renewable energy, GCCs, and medical devices—under the guidance of the research team. I also contributed to a research paper on critical minerals, which required extensive data analysis and policy evaluation.

This internship significantly enhanced both my technical and soft skills. The constant mentorship and constructive feedback helped me refine my analytical approach to policy, while the intellectually stimulating and welcoming work environment made the experience truly enriching.

Kunsh Khanna

During my two-month internship at VeK, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment that enriched my understanding of economic research.

My tasks included contributing to VeK’s ongoing research by exploring various pressing topics, such as the development of EV infrastructure in India. This helped me gain insight into the challenges and opportunities in the country's green mobility transition. One of the highlights of my experience was writing a research paper on Green Bonds, where I delved into their role in promoting sustainable finance and analysed their growing relevance in both domestic and global markets. In addition, I wrote blogs on various economic issues, which not only sharpened my writing and analytical skills but also deepened my appreciation for the broader economic landscape. This internship not only strengthened my research capabilities but also gave me a platform to engage meaningfully with topics in relation to the economy.

Arshiya Khattar

During my two-month internship at VeK, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with Ms. Saloni Goyal (Lead Associate), where we successfully published weekly blogs on the company's website. These blogs covered various topics related to business and the economy, allowing me to refine my writing and research skills. Additionally, I conducted an in-depth research study on the carbon market adjustment mechanism, green hydrogen, and energy storage, contributing valuable insights to the team. This experience enhanced my understanding of current policy issues and allowed me to develop critical communication and analytical skills while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

M Srinivas Vitthal Rao

I interned at VeK in New Delhi from July–August 2023 with the Advocacy Team, where the culture was open, fast-paced, and idea-driven. I worked on creating a Ministry Press Release Aggregator using web scraping to streamline policy tracking from the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Alongside this, I created a Ready Reckoner simplifying India’s legislative and policy-making processes, which helped the team map how decisions move through ministries.

I also conducted research on India’s renewable energy policies—covering offshore wind, solar rooftops, and hybrid systems—evaluating their regulatory frameworks and long-term feasibility. The internship gave me a hands-on view of how tech, policy, and strategy align, and it showed me the impact that structured, well-communicated research can have in advocacy work.
